Inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe’s visual worlds

Georgia O’Keeffe lived and breathed modernism—from art to clothing and interior design. Her extraordinary style continues to inspire designers right up to the present. An example is the Spanish design studio Marre Moerel, whose hand-made ceramic bowls, cups, salt and pepper shakers, vases, and candleholders are based on O’Keeffe’s sensual worlds of motifs and colors.

This candle was inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe’s 1959 painting ‘It Was Yellow and Pink II’ representing, from a birds eye view, the natural flowing movements of rivers and its tributaries. To represent these beautiful geographical formations, different colored liquid clay bodies were poured into plaster molds, constantly creating new, natural and unique objects.
