A disturbing satire

Los Caprichos is a series of eighty engravings and aquatints, which challenge different themes such as mortality, religion, marriage or superstition. Goya uses satire, blurs assumptions and holds up a mirror to society in a bizarre and disturbing way. Los Caprichos date from 1797 and were originally published in 1799. Their irony and sarcasm holds truth up to this present day and emphasise how modern a master Goya was in his time.
