Specific Objects Without Specific Form
Between 2010 and 2011, Elena Filipovic along with artists Danh Vo, Carol Bove and Tino Sehgal, curated a visionary Felix Gonzalez-Torres exhibition across three institutions: WIELS Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels; Fondation Beyeler, Riehen/Basel; and MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt. The show reflected the full scope of Gonzalez -Torres’ short but prolific career and included rarely seen as well as better known paintings, sculptures, photographic works and public projects. The experimental form of this groundbreaking exhibition referred to Gonzalez Torres' radical conception of art. The part of the exhibition hosted by Fondation Beyeler between May and August 2010 was curated by Elena Filipovic and Carol Bove. The catalogue documents the individual versions and locations of the exhibition and includes contributions by artists of different generations, who emphasize the significance of Gonzalez - Torres’ oeuvre for today’s art.
