Description

Nu pour Cleveland

On the occasion of the exhibition “Matisse - Invitation to the Voyage”, the Fondation Beyeler has added prints by Henri Matisse to its Art Editions portfolio. Henri Matisse is known not only for his paintings, but also for his graphic works and prints, which play an important role in his artistic oeuvre. In his graphic works, Matisse showed his outstanding ability to reduce forms and lines to the essentials. Matisse used prints not only as an art form in their own right, but also as a means of exploring ideas for his paintings and sculptures.

His prints, including lithographs and etchings, were often devoted to series in which he explored different variations on a theme. For example, Matisse drew inspiration from ancient art, nature and the human body, creating works that have retained their timeless power to this day. Matisse's prints demonstrate his ability to achieve great impact with a few precise lines and reflect his lifelong fascination with the simplicity of form.
