Plattencover für Liliput

Peter Fischli’s lithographic edition for the Fondation Beyeler presents a newly reassembled horizontal landscape format composed of the front and back of an originally square record sleeve. This cover for the single You Did It / The Jatz was designed by Peter Fischli and David Weiss in 1983 in collaboration with Klaudia Schifferle, then the singer and bassist of the all-female punk band LiLiPUT. In keeping with the nonconformist attitude of punk, the artists turn against the design norms of this subculture itself. This doubled anti-stance is expressed in the choice of materials: the collage made of dried grasses appears more like a bricolage, alludes to artistic beginnings, and parodies creativity as an educational ideal.
