In its current exhibition "CLOSE-UP ", the Fondation Beyeler brings nine women artists to the fore. Together, Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Lotte Laserstein, Frida Kahlo, Alice Neel, Marlene Dumas, Cindy Sherman and Elizabeth Peyton chart a century of art history and bring an undeniable contribution to the history of portraiture. To complement the exhibition, our museum shop offers a selection of monographies as well as a collection of works on themes such as portraiture and women in art.

Paru initialement en anglais dans ArtNews en 1971, cet essai a fait date dans l'histoire de l'art. Linda Nochlin y démantèle la notion de génie artistique codée par les hommes et dévoile les structures institutionnelles et sociales qui ont tenu les femmes à l'écart des carrières artistiques pendant des siècles. Cette édition est augmentée d'un texte de Linda Nochlin appelé Trente ans plus tard, où elle commente l'émergence d'artistes, notamment Joan Mitchell, Louise Bourgeois et Cindy Sherman.
