Beyeler Collection & Palimpsest

From modern classics to recent acquisitions of contemporary art, the Fondation Beyeler is showing the broad spectrum of its collection at the beginning of the year. Major works by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol are set in relation to contemporary positions by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Wolfgang Tillmans and Rachel Whiteread. Furthermore, the large-scale installation Palimpsest by the internationally renowned Colombian artist Doris Salcedo is on view. Palimpsest is dedicated to the refugees and migrants who over the past twenty years have died attempting dangerous journeys across the Mediterranean or the Atlantic in search of a better life in Europe.
