Lecture by Alfred Pacquement: Public Collections vs. Private Collections
Private collections that are open to the public and have immense resources at their disposal are increasingly competing with (or supplementing?) public museums. How can public museums continue developing nonetheless? Should they resign themselves to selling certain works in order to acquire new ones? Will the museum retain its central position, or is it fast becoming just one player among many? These are some of the questions that will be discussed at this conference with Alfred Pacquement, Honorary Director of the National Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou.
The event will be held in French. In collaboration with the Alliance française de Bâle and the Société d'Études françaises.
Admission to the museum prior to the event is included in the ticket. The exhibitions can be visited before the event.
