Lecture by Marek Wieczorek “Mondrian’s Magic: Nature’s Architecture, Jazz, and Neo-Plastic Space''

Piet Mondrian is widely regarded as one of the leading modernists who played a crucial part in painting’s development from figuration to abstraction. Marek Wieczorek, Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Washington in Seattle, will explore the concept of “Neoplasticism,” a term that Mondrian himself coined to describe his own unique mode of expression. His talk will shed light on the artist’s entire oeuvre, from the primary colors of the early work Mill in Sunlight of 1908 to his last masterpiece, Victory Boogie Woogie of 1942–44.

The event will be held in English.
Admission to the museum prior to the event is included in the ticket.
