A poetic response to the moon landing
Max Ernst painted Naissance d'une galaxie (Birth of a Galaxy) in the year of the first moon landing. The work, painted in oil, reflects upon man’s yearning to explore other spheres, in a poetic vision that is at the same time tinged with irony. The dimensions of the poster correspond closely to those of Ernst’s canvas (92 x 73 cm) and – in combination with the high quality of the reproduction – conveying an accurate impression of the original.
