Morris Manser is a fashion designer from Basel. He has designed two beach towels exclusively for the Fondation Beyeler.
The building of the Fondation Beyeler was conceived in harmony with nature, the park. The pond at the main entrance, which seems to merge with the glass façade of the building, and the glass front facing the Lange Erlen field seamlessly integrate the museum into its surroundings.
The towels show the palm plants located in the west corridor of the museums building. At the top of the design you can see the trees that are outside the building. By merging these two organic elements on one level, the outside and the inside flow together. The vertical stripes appear in the rhythm determined by my feeling for the nature-architecture interplay. Thus, several thin stripes of different fineness stand for nature, for movement, and the two wide stripes for the static and constant image of the building.
The first colour concept (orange/blue) is based on the night-time and the second (colourful) on the daytime atmosphere.
