Acanthes dates from the latter partof Henri Matisse’s life, when the artist worked predominantly with scissors and paper. This large-format composition recently spent 3 years in the Fondation Beyeler’s Conservation Department, where it was the focus of a restoration campaign that uncoveredmany important new insights into Matisse’s working methods. The poster captures the exuberant colors of the original.
