A Split-Rocker for your flowers

The Split-Rocker Vase is a small variant of the monumental Split-Rocker flower sculpture that bloomed in the grounds of the Fondation Beyeler for three months over the summer of 2012. The sculpture, created out of thousands of flowering plants, took up the harmonious dialogue between art and nature that is so characteristic of the Fondation Beyeler museum and gardens. Jeff Koons based his design for the Split-Rocker on the animal heads of two children’s rockers: a pony and a dinosaur. He split each head in two and then reassembled one half of each into a single head.

Jeff Koons has designed the Split-Rocker Vase on the same principle. The porcelain vase has been manufactured for the Fondation Beyeler by the long-established Bernardaud porcelain factory in Limoges, France. Jeff Koons is one of today’s top-earning artists. His works regularly achieve record prices at auction. The Split-Rocker Vase is an object that already has a firm place in art history.
