A circus at home

Peinture (Painting) is a testament to Joan Miró’s love of the circus. Like Alexander Calder, he was a great admirer of the famous Fratelli brothers, a trio of Italian clowns who were the talk of Paris in the 1920s. Clownish comedyis clearly plays a part in Peinture.
