The Cahiers d'Art revue was founded in 1926 by the art critic Christian Zervos, who also headed the Editions Cahiers d'Art publishing house. Between 1926 and 1960, 97 issues of the revue were published under his editorial guidance. They featured articles on artists such as Fernand Léger, Max Ernst, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Klee and Marcel Duchamp. Zervos also published over 50 books, including monographs on Henri Matisse and Man Ray and the comprehensive catalogue raisonné of Pablo Picasso. The Cahiers d'Art revue was distinguished by its modern graphics, typography and illustrations. The Swedish art collector Staffan Ahrenberghas now taken over the revue, the publishing house and the attached gallery. Together with Samuel Keller, the director of the Fondation Beyeler, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, in October 2012 Staffan Ahrenbergrelaunched the Cahiers d'Art with the first new issue for more than half a century, published from the same Paris premises. Cahiers d'Art will be appearing at irregular intervals, just as it did under Christian Zervos. The first issue presents art works by Ellsworth Kelly, Cyprien Gaillard, Sarah Morris, and Adrian Villar Rojas, and architecture by Oscar Niemeyer. The revue is published in French in an edition of 2,000 and also – for the first time – in English in an edition of 8,000 copies. Cahiers d'Art marks the rebirth of an important voice in the art world. Get to know contemporary currents and trends in art even better, thanks to the Cahiers d'Art.
