Description
Sarah Morris in Japanese.
The painter, filmmaker, photographer and graphic artist Sarah Morris (b. 1967) shot to prominence in the 1990s. As one of the most important abstract artists of today, her work is known around the world. For her solo exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler in 2008, Morris created the very long mural Black Beetle (23.7 x 3.8 m / 77’ 9” x 12’6”). The idea for the work came from origami, a Japanese paper-folding technique that originated in China. The Art Edition Black Beetle is based on the structure of the large mural.
