Swatch - Matisse's Snail

A miniature masterpiece for your wrist, this Swatch x Tate watch is inspired by The Snail, 1953 by Henri Matisse. The limited-edition watches were created as part of the “Swatch Art Journey”, a collaboration between Swatch and renowned museums, studios, and art institutions.

When ill health prevented Matisse from painting as he had done before, he began ‘painting with scissors’. By cutting painted paper into shapes, he created his famous 'cut out' artworks, strategically placing colours and shapes together for maximum effect.

This watch from the Swatch x Tate Gallery Collection has a transparent matte blue biosourced case and biosourced glass. The dial features Henri Matisse's artwork The Snail printed in its entirety and black hour and minute hands. The transparent, shiny strap has a print of the artwork as well as the artist's signature. The transparent, shiny loops are printed with the Tate Gallery logo.
